This morning I wanted something that would help me feel up to the task of processing about 20 heads of cabbage for sauerkraut. Coffee is something I rarely turn to because it makes me feel terrible so instead I dug around in my herbs until I found the last of my ashwaganda root. It makes me feel awake and energized without the heart-pounding or jitteriness I always get from coffee. Perfect. I ground it up with some cinnamon bark and added it to some milk for a little spiciness and a little richness.
These may look like Luna the cat's food but they are sweet and cinnamon-y lozenges. I just powdered some slippery elm bark and mixed it with honey and cinnamon. After rolling the sticky goo into lozenges I dehydrated them in the oven. I can't stop popping these.
