Stinging Nettles / Urtica diocia
Habitat and Growing Conditions: Grows everywhere as a weed, particularly in wooded areas and at the edge of woods.
Pertinent Information: Diuretic, astringent, tonic, hemostatic, galactagogue, expectorant, nutritive. Use the leaves. Taken over a long time, nettles is a tonic that benefits the entire body, especially the lungs, stomach, and urinary tract. Its high concentration of nutrients make it ideal for anemia. Sprinkling the powder on a wound helps it stop bleeding. The tea is useful for asthma, urinary complaints, diarrhea, arthritis. Useful for an enlarged prostate. Blood purifier. Clears skin problems.
Personal Experience: LOVE nettles tea. I had never had it before receiving my herb pack and now I am HOOKED. It tastes great and I love how full of vitamins it is. I especially need to make sure I’m getting enough iron, and I love that my nettles tea has that covered.
