Echinacea / Echinacea purpurea
Habitat and Growing Conditions: Used to grow freely in meadows across the US. Now it is more difficult to find because of development and over-harvesting.
Pertinent Information: Major anti-inflammatory. Alterative. Anti-microbial. Flower, roots, leaves. Roots unearthed in Autumn. Blood cleanser. Echinacea will work in any case of pus or red inflammation. Take small doses every two hours for a few days, then reduce to 3 or 4 times daily until a week after all symptoms have disappeared.
Personal Experience: This has a plain green taste that reminds me of drinking medicinal teas as a kid. I have taken echinacea tea many times at the onset of a cold. Totally works.
